About BIG EAST
The BIG EAST Conference
After
celebrating its 25th anniversary a year ago, the BIG EAST Conference moves
forward in 2004-05 with new members poised to join a conference that gives
unequivocal importance to providing student-athletes with opportunities to
excel against the nation's best.
In 2005-06, the league will add five
new members: University of Cincinnati, DePaul University, University of
Louisville, Marquette University and the University of South Florida.
Since opening its doors in 1979, the league has won 24 national championships
in six different sports and 122 student-athletes have won individual national
titles. The BIG EAST has always been able to boast that some of its best
students are also some of its best athletes. More than 300 student-athletes
have earned Academic All-America honors. |
